Prolley a very dumb question, but don't you have to have the cover on the master cylinder to bleed the brakes? Th FSM says remove the cover, be sure the reservoir is full, but doesn't say anything about putting it back on before bleeding. TIA
no you have to leave the cover off so you can add fluid as your bleeding the brakes the service manual doesnt really explain bleeding the brakes very well in my opinion but you will need 2 people to do a realy good job of bleeding them and a full bottle of brake fluid, have one person continually and slowly pumping the brake and one person adding fluid and opening the bleed to get rid of the air,
I have always put cover on while bleeding, after a couple of squirts I remove cover and replenish the lost fluid and continue bleeding, if the fluid should come in contact with paint it as potent as paint stripper
Its a one person job if you put a small hose on the bleeder that goes into a container that has brake fluid in it. This prevents air from returning into the caliper and you dont have to open and close the bleeder just pump away.
