Default 16 inch to 17 inch swap

I am changing front wheel on my 2005 FLHRS from 3.00x16 with 130 90 16 tire to a 3.5 x 17 and trying to figure out the correct tire to keep overall rolling circumference close for handling. I see 130 80 17 but cant find a site like Tire Rack that has a calculator for motorcycle tire conversion. Does anyone know of a site or has anyone done this? Thanks for the help.

avontyre.com for one, they give all critical dimensions for their tyres, look at motorcycle tire sites for the tires you want, RADIALS RULE, after installing avon azaro's no more outdated bias tyres for me, i was thinking a 3.5X18 front for my sporty, need a midglide though, a 17X4.25 rear is my choice though nothing but wire wheel rims at that size so far, excel alloys would be a little lighter but i was trying to get away from tubes needed for most wire wheels. a 17 is a great setup on a 16 original, with a lower profile diameter is almost the same, also 17 is sport bike sizing meaning all the BEST new tire technology

Think BEST new tire technology. That says it all. The absolute best rubber is found on a 17" rim bar none. Many makes wheels few make tires. Pick out the tire for what you wish to use your bike for than buy the wheels.

Yes, a 130/80-17 would be about equal to a 130/90-16. Here's the calculator;

Default 17 inch swap

Ordered my 17 inch billet wheel, bearings, rotors and Metzler (my favorite) 130/80 17 yesterday. Just replacing rear tire with Metzler since you cant see it anyway with bags. Anxious to rub off first few miles and then feel the stick stock Dunlops don't have. Love those running board sparks on the twisties. (former FZR750R) rider, now grown up!
