Apparently it has been sitting since 1995. Sure looks like.

It may look a little crusty but this old shovel head still looks cool .

Odometer reads 9000 or so miles. I doubt that but at this point, I don’t think it matters.

Here is a close up of the engine case . Notice the crossed out vin number. And if you look closely, it is literally the same number. If you can’t tell, I did view it with a magnifying glass and the two numbers are the same. What is the deal with that?

So here on the frame you can also just make out the number which does match the engine case number.

Here is how it came to us in relatively original condition but lots of rust from sitting outdoors for years.

Here is the jewel in the crown , complete with an engine stand we threw together from an old bed frame. Very ghetto but works just the same.

Crusty, yes. Cool , definitely yes. I understand some like patina, but this to me is way beyond that.

Here is we’re we left off on the engine. The cam cover and oil pump I will remove next. The lifters look like they were just put in and the cam looks just as new. Will post some pictures when I get it out.

Piston two, side two. The scouring on the two pistons make me think that new pistons are called for here. Though you can just barely feel them with a finger nail.

Cylinder two Cross hatching is quite visible on both. One clearly has more scouring, but neither can be felt with a finger nail. What would you guys recommend going forward here? I’m thinking boring .030 with new pistons and rings. What say you all?

Here it is again in all is crusty glory. I know patina is a big thing for some, but for me , this is more than just patina.

Still need to remove the cam cover and oil pump. The bottom end seems fine so far. Likely will just re seal the case halves and replace the rear seal and spacer.

Cylinder two. A lot more scouring. But the scouring on neither one of the two cylinders can be felt with a fingernail. The pistons on the other hand, you can just barely feel the scouring on them. I’m thinking of just boring it to .030 with new pistons and rings. What say you all?
