throwout bearing went out on my 85. there wasn't enough adjustment to get the clutch cable tight enough so i couldn't get the bike into first gear. took up the cable slack with a worm clamp and a piece of wire rode the bike about 50 miles home without using the clutch to up shift or down shift. used the clutch twice, once to get going and once to stop when i got in the driveway.
