Good new: a bandsaw with a new blade cut it cleanly, a file smoothed the edges, no chipping in the chrome. I probably could’ve saved the end of the guard since the fender doesn’t reach there but I didn’t think of that until the cut was done. It looks fine if you don’t stare at it...stop staring.
