This article applies to the Harley-Davidson Touring.

There's nothing illegal or unsafe about operating a cell phone while driving a Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle. However, you will need to make sure you're operating your cell phone using road-tested wireless technology, such as Bluetooth. To pair your cell phone to your motorcycle, you will need to carry out a few simple steps, all of which you should be able to complete in as little as five to ten minutes. Once your cell phone is paired to your bike, you won't need to complete the setup process again; unless there is a connectivity issue that requires you to re-enter your password or start the process again.

  • Bluetooth-enabled helmet

Option 1 – Connect through your helmet

  • Harley-Davidson motorcycles do not feature Bluetooth technology.
  • While you're not able to connect a cell phone directly to your sound system, you can gain connectivity through a range of affordable communication accessories.
  • For example, you can purchase a helmet that offers a built-in communication system.
  • Nolan N-Comm is one go-to brand for the Touring. Nolan is highly rated and helmets are available online for as low as $200.
  • Cardo Scala also receives glowing reviews for its helmets.

Option 2 – Use a GPS

  • Purchase a GPS with caller ID capabilities.
  • When your cell phone rings, the caller's ID will display across the screen.
  • Depending on your device, only callers whose contact information is saved in your Contacts will display on screen.

Option 3 – Use a headset

  • Sena Bluetooth headsets are another go-to choice for the Touring.
  • Plug your cell phone directly into your Box Infotainment System using a USB cable.
  • Do not opt to pair your cell phone to your motorcycle using Bluetooth technology.
  • You are now able to access and play music via your USB cable.
  • Phone calls will now filter through your headset's Bluetooth function without interruption.
