I just received and installed my new HD rider adjustable backrest and am wondering if anyone else out there installed one on their SG? My question is does the backrest pad lower all the way down to the seat? On my lowest setting the backrest pad is about 3 inches higher than the seat and looks like crap in my opinion. I was hoping I could lower it right down to the seat. Either I have a defective unit that doesn't adjust downward all the way or this is the way it is supposed to be.
It is quite comfortable and the adjustment is nice when on the road but I can't get over the looks of it.

Anyone have a photo or comments regarding theirs? If I can't adjust it any lower I will be posting it for sale soon.

 

I have one on my Ultra that has a button in the back (under the material) that lowers the backrest down to the seat when pressed in. It comes up when pulled without pressing the button.

Yes yours does but you have the Sundowner seat, right? That seat is much thicker than the stock seat.

I took the backrest off my FLHT. If you have the backrest with the 3 sets of holes in the bracket, even putting it in the bottom holes still has the backrest considerably farther away from the seat than yours sits. The MOCO with their "one size fits many" attitude makes the backrest taller so that it will fit through the thicker seats. They have another backrest style with the adjustable angle that may fit closer but I doubt it.

 

I've got the stock seat and I am aware of the concealed button under the material on the back of the pad. The thing just bottoms out about 3 inches before touching the seat. Full up it is about 5 inches above the seat.

I have the stock seat and back rest. Make sure you have it in the lowest position. When I first put mine on I thought I had it all the way down and didn't like the look. Checked it again and it went down further. Sorry, can't show you a pic. Make sure you squeeze the bracket together as far as you can when inserting it into the seat.

 

PM me for purchase of my 1-hour old backrest. Bounty's doesnt appear to be the adjustable unit with the gas spring that adjust fore-aft.

Mine is a bit to high also, I am going to fab the thing about 2 to 3 inches lower. Just hack off 3 inches
of the two bars, and re weld the locking pins back on...

I was looking for a smaller one, like a 3 inch tall pad, but couldn't.
