Well folks, life has gotten in the way for this build and delayed progress but I decided to get some outside help. The swap turned out to be more than I could accomplish at home so I asked the folks at S&G Custom Cycles in Columbia Tennessee to do what I couldn't. The engine wouldn't align properly using custom plates so to do it right the frame was reconfigured to bolt up the Evo. I had finished about 85% of the work but noticed I was breaking more parts than putting together. The finish work of making it a runner required some experience and equipment I couldn't do at home but she runs now and close to road worthy. Tags have been on it sometime and I'm grateful that Tennessee is lenient when it comes to titling a custom vehicle. I'm disappointed I couldn't do all my own work but this was a weird project trying to mesh old with new and I hadn't counted on the backyard engineering involved. In a few months I'll be 50 years old and I would like to enjoy the machine and not just look at it. Anyway, I'm happy with the folks at the shop and I'm sure they have seen their share of unfinished projects needing completion. Please feel free to scrutinize/ criticize this build. I appreciate all the members that have taken the time to advise me and help with their experiences and knowledge.
