Thinking of Handy SAM 1000 Lift for My Dyna
Howdy All,
Thinking of pulling a trigger on a Handy SAM 1000 Lift to help me work on my 08 Street Bob.
However, I am not sure whether the optional scissor jack will work with my Dyna?
With a standard floor jack, we use lift adapters. However the scissor jack supplied by Handy is lot narrower. Would I still need to use a lift adapter with a Handy scissor Jack? If not, how do you position the scissor jack to ensure that bike is stable when jacked up?
Can anyone please comment?
Thanks

Scissors Jacks
If it is the same one as in the pictures, you shouldn't have any problems. I have a Blackjack that I use often and the one in the pics looks almost as wide as mine.
I place it just forward of the rear wheel to lift the tire off the ground (where the swing arm mounts). To raise the front, I put it just under the forward motor mount.
I don't have a table lift but it works well on the garage floor without any lift adapters.

My dad has a Handy lift. He bought it back in 2000. I will say this, It is a great lift. The only problem he has had with it was the seal on the ram. It was an easy and cheap fix.
After using his lift for a couple years on my bike. I decided I needed a lift. I started shopping around and found mine.

Fit and finsish is not quite as nice as the Handy, but the difference is marginal. If you never saw a Handy, you would think this lift is the best one around. The foot pedal on mine is slightly nicer than my dads Handy, but they might have started using a new pedal since then.
I'm not trying to tell you your business, but I would pass on the Handy and buy a direct lift. It is about half the price, does the same job and I like the diamond plate better than the smooth finish of the table, it helps keep sockets from rolling off the table when you drop them.
I use their Black Jack scissor jack on the lift. It came with adapters, and a large plate that slides on it for larger jobs. I had a Road King on my lift on the black jack, both wheels off and strapped down. It was very stable and I had no worries.
