Reduced reach forward controls for 99-05 Dyna bikes
Long story shortened.
I am in the process of making a partial kit for reduced reach forward contols for the years 99-05. The 06 up models already have a kit ($169) offered by HD but the 99-05 does not. They do sell a full kit at $349
I have finished the mount-adapters- just need to make the brake rod.
If anyone is located close to Fort Payne, or Scottsboro, Alabama with a 99-05 Dyna with forward controls and don't mind hanging out at the shop for a couple of hours It would be grand.
I will not be making any changes to your bike. Just need to make sure the holes match up and get a couple of photos of the brake rod with measurements.
My bike is at a builders for a 113 kit and may be close to April before I get it back.
I would really like to finish this before I get the bike back
If you allow me to use your bike and need a set I will make you a set once I get mine finished for helping. The only cost to you will be 2 screws and 3/8 inch/1/2 inch metal unless I find some before then. Possibly a brake rod. Not sure at this point.

That is what I'm thinking. I have designed a way of using the forward control brake rod.
You also have to put a deeper bend in the rod for the adapter. The forward brake rod will not allow the rod to fit the brake pedal because of the different angle.
This why I need a bike to see how.much of a bend I need and to see how much shorter the rod needs to be. I have access to a metal lathe. i don't think i will need it.

So in other words you cut 3/8 inch off the reduced reach brake rod, that makes sense.
took me a few to catch what you meant.
I can do that without a problem.
In case you help someone else, all you have to do is cut the brake rod and remove 3/8inch from the straight part of the brake rod. Using a die threads both ends and get a metal coupler all thread. They look like a long nut, chrome to. Add 2 locking nuts in front and behind the coupler. Now it is adjustable and has plenty of strength.
You saved me some work
I'll make it tomorrow
Thank you.
