Default shifter HELP

Want to ask a question before I attempt anything.

Headed to work this am. I go to downshift and the shift pedal pretty much falls. I can lift it but the linkage isn't moving. I limp home and take everything apart. Seems the splined shaft on the engine side now spins freely. My question is can I have this spot welded or do I need a new part.

I can't tell you whether the spot weld is possible, but my personal opinion would be to replace it!

If you mean the splines on the shaft that comes out of the tranny then the best fix is the "Bettalever" if you mean the splines on the foot lever then you can spot weld it but a "fill" weld is better. Shaft and lever will need replacing if you ever have to remove them but it will get you out of a hole for as long as it takes for something in the primary to need looking at and that could be ten years away.

I had the part off and got my local shop to mig weld it in. I took it by the dealer and let them look at it. They said the splined shaft comes press fitted from the factory. So by having it welded I fixed it better than stock.

I would recommend doing a Pre-flight and see what else might be loose.
