Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums as a registered member, but I've read many of the articles here for the wealth of knowledge that resides here in the past. I just recently picked up my second bike, a 2013 FXDB, and I am looking for information on a forward control kit. I'm 6' 1" and the mids have got to go. I've found one thread here that has some info regarding this, but I wanted to make sure that I had the latest. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kit I should purchase? The bike is blacked out so I'm looking to keep with that scheme. Has anyone else swapped out their controls on this same model? What problems did you run in to, if any. Thanks for any information that any of you can provide.
i installed a kit off of ebay on my bike a month ago. its a realy nice kit. it looks exactly like the harley davidson one and $100 cheaper. it comes with all the gaskets and hardware that you need to install it.
Thank you for replying, Rhino. Do you happen to remember the manufacturer of your kit, or maybe the seller on ebay? How long did it take you to install?
I ordered mine on the bike already through Hd1, but I wanted to chime in and let u know that I am the same height as u, and the forwards make a big difference in comfort. The bike on the sales floor had mids, and they were ok, but the forwards make me so much more comfortable. Ur gonna love em.
I'll chime in too. I helped a buddy swap his mids for forwards on his 07 dyna. It wasn't hard I believe his kit was from Harley though, not sure what difference that makes. I'm 6'4" and forward controls still feel a little too close so I'm adding forward control extensions soon.
I bought my bike new (2013 SuperGlide Custom) with factory mids, but with the intention of immediately converting to forwards along with a quick detach windshield and sissy bar/pad.
The forwards were more difficult to install than I had figured. I went with the HD kit which came with everything I needed. I did not cut the mid linkage or leave it in place as some have done, but did the install correctly although it was more work to do the install that way.
The forwards are perfect, solid HD quality and fit. Bike now fits me perfectly (I'm 6' even and 215lbs) and is a joy to ride.

I put the Kuryakyn 3inch forward controls on my 2010 fxdwg. By far the best mod possible. The kit was cheap, easy to install and well made. I know you have a different bike but figured id throw in my 2cents...
Thank you all for the quick replies! I guess I'll just head back to my dealer and ask them to order the kit for me and see if I can install them on my own. I know that I need them. I had a forward kit on my old '07 Sportster and it made all the difference in the world.
I did it on my superglide and ran into one problem. When you stretch out, the aircleaner cover feels like a football between your leg and the bike. To rectify it I went to a heavy breather aircleaner. Now much better as I do not feel I have to be bowlegged to reach the brake pedal.

I have mids on my SG and I was wondering about that issue because if I just put my right leg forward, the air cleaner gets in the way big time. Which air cleaner did you get?
