Default Still no taillight... Electrical gods please help.

Hey guys,

A little while ago I made a thread describing my problem. I purchased an HD Chopped Fender Kit, since the kit eliminates the taillight a stop/tail/turn module, 68398-10, is included.

Here is my problem.. after installing the module, I'm not getting any tail/running lights, only stop and turn. I called HD suspecting the module was defective and had it replaced. With the new unit in I'm still not getting a taillight.

With the possibility of a defective module out, I'm searching for an answer. Please help.

Here are some possibilities...

1) Since the scoot doesn't have front signals is it possible something is happening that's eliminating the tail/run function?

2) Could a bad flasher relay have anything to do with it?

Power is clearly being supplied to the *** end, I just can't seem to understand as to why its acting this way.

Here are some photos of the module (not sure if its any help)

Either way the plan for this weekend is to put the front signals in and see if that changes anything. Worst case scenario is I'll throw the old fender back on till I figure this thing out.

THANKS GUYS!

+1 to the above!! You'll need 2 stage lights for this to work.

And if you already have 2 stage bulbs there then the constant power side of the socket isn't powered or grounded properly. You prolly need power to the constant lit side of the socket.

By 2 stage I presume you mean dual filament, if that's the case they are.. they were supplied with the kit. I'll go over the wires to make sure the connections are good.

Also, if I'm getting signal and brake lights wouldn't that mean the ground is good? I'm just not getting a constant power to the socket. Thanks

Tail light fuse? It is separate from the brake light. Don't ask how I know.

I don't think that's accurate. Even if that was the case I would think the taillights would run off the same circuit as the headlight. So if it blows the headlight blows. In case I'm wrong can someone supply me with the fuse number.

I'll keep messing with it.. it has to be a connection issue.

I'm not sure of the exact module but I'm running something similar on my 2008 FXD. It does NOT require dual filament bulbs.

I'm thinking that module may convert the front turn signals into running lamps as well as the rears? As you are running no front turn lamps the load will be wrong internally and cause the problems you have.

Guess work on my part but might be worth checking ...

What year bike is it? I am thinking if the kit came with a new set of wireing for inside the rear fender, or you are useing the old one.. Depending on year of your bike you need to add an exstra wire for the run light to your rear signals
