Default Question on left side crank locking tool

I have a 2000 dyna twin cam motor out of the bike and need to lock the crank shaft to loosen the bolts on the drive gears. It has been upgraded to S & S gear drive cams.

Is this the only tool to do the job, and is it the correct one for the 10 spline crank shaft?

Thank-you

If the motor is out of the bike you can leave the plugs in and tap the wrench with a hammer. OR feed a length of 8mm rope down the plug hole (leave a tail so you can get it out) this will lock the motor with no damage. You can do the same to tighten it.

Spanners39,

I'll give that a try. I have the spline ratcheting wrench, but it has a really narrow spline contact patch and was afraid it would damage the splines.

This tool was the only other thing I've found.

Thank-you

Anyone who ever worked on Ironheads and Shovels knows that trick, you want about 3 feet of soft rope. Try your local rock-climbing shop for some sheathed multi-core stuff.
