Default sporty shocks on dyna

alot of ebay ads list progressive shocks under sportster and then at end say (fit dyna)

granted it will probably fit will you run into any problems running shocks made for sporties on dynas?

dynas are probably 70-100 lbs heavier im thinking? and i seen some BIG PPL on sporties haha

reason i ask i have some 1200R sportster shocks i got for cheap that are 13.5 should i even bother putting them on?

Not so sure they would work, I am guessing you would need to see where the rider sag would put you compared to your stock shock's.
13 1/2' is quite a bit longer, but you want at least 1" of rider sag to be able to utilize the extra length.
If they fit put them on and see where you are at............

They're simple enough to swap just to see what you get. You can always firm them up with the adjustment if need be. Give them a shot, it's free.

I tried Dyna shocks on my Sporty and it was so stiff it was like a hard tail and couldn't be adjusted out. This swap may sag like **** and not be able to adjust out. Don't do it unless shocks are free and you do the labor yourself

Try them out if you want. The valving and spring rates that were designed for a much lighter bike might work, but I kinda doubt they will give you much improvement. May be a step backward.

+1 on this ^.

I called progressive on this issue a while back when I was looking at some sporty shocks to use on my dyna. I thought they would be too soft due to the dyna being a heavier bike, but they said even though the sporty is lighter the shocks would be way too stiff due to the different shock mounting angle (more straight up and down vs. angled back on Dyna), they are valved/sprung different. They would have mounted up but gave a bad ride.
