Default Decided to take a look at the carb bowl and...

...this is what I found. I'm amazed the thing even ran at all. I guess I should have done this last year when I bought the bike.

That's just varnished from laying up over the years, carb soak will clean it up.

The corn fuel is much worse and will do corrosion damage from the fuel being saturated with water, sometimes takes a glass bead or acid to fix it up.

Gotta deal with it all the time in my line of work, PIA.

That's why I run a few ounces of B-12 Chemtool every couple tank fulls.
Been a good while since I seen one of mine that bad.

Looks like the accelerator pump may not have been working.

Everything worked, the bike just ran lean because the pilot valve and the jet was partially clogged. This is a bike that was stored for many years and not used much by the owner. The bowl is cleaned out like new now, and so are the jets. It should run a lot better this summer.

Part of my 5k service is to remove and clean the float bowl. Doesn't look like that one was ever done.

That right there is the biggest problem.
