Did you ever pull the cam chest to check for a snapped cam pinion shaft? With all the damage you have I would suspect that to be the culprit....

No, I haven't checked that, but I will trust me I'm going over everything with a fine tooth comb. I just spent the weekend cleaning the heads and disassembling them. The cylinder are off and I have them being in inspected and honed for free. I'm in the process of buying the guides and all but to many options lol. I think I'm going to use nitrated valves with chrome tips, cast iron valve guides, vitron valves seals. I ordered new .040 mls metal head gasket, new base gasket, and new chrome molly rings.

Yes, my iron/bronze experience in air-cooled engines has been that the bronze guide wear very quickly - and that wear can lead to over-heated valves and consequent "snap-bang-hole-in-piston".

The philosophers, many of whom never did any engine or machine work, tell us that "knowledge is the food for the soul". If that's true, brother, you are getting a full meal.

I brought my heads to the shop today and they are going to look at it and give me a price to fix the heads and do a fix up valve seats probably use lapping compound because there not in to bad of shape. I didn't notices it but after the shop told me that the heads had a hell of a 3 angle valve job done. What should it cost to fix the valve seats and the gouges?
