88CI Upgrade????
Hey all,
Just got back from Arizona Bike Week and while I was out there I turned 60K on my 2000 FLHTCI.
Bike is running great but seeing that I just turned the 60K milestone I am starting to think about refreshing it's 88CI hart.
I really would like to do a Screaming Eagle 103 Upgrade. I have been looking around I can see that this is may not be an easy task. I guess my question is, can anyone set me in the right direction?
If you have done this up grade please drop a note here and let me know what you think is the best way to go about taking this task on.
Thanks a ton in advance!

we`ve done tons of 103",but just going 95" is alot easier, about a half day job, compaired to total engine disassembley, with the right cams, you should be happy with it.a good, torquey, mild build we do is S&S .551 cams,.040 off the heads with flatop pistons and our 1.900 intake power mod.very nice, easy to tune reliable motor.if dead set on 103",ide go bigger since the motors going to be torn down.you can go as big as 124"

Given that you have been riding a stock 88" for a decade, going to a 95", cams like Andrews 26's, and a tune would make you very, very happy and not break the bank - especially if you can do the wrenching. While you are in their, upgrade to the SE cam plate and tensioners, unless funds wont allow it.

Are you planning to do the work yourself or 'farm it out'?
What Exhaust and Air Cleaner are you currently running?
Check your crank runout... if under .0035, go with gear drive cams.
One way or another, get rid of the current cam drive set up!!
Do not 'over-cam'!! Andrews 26's have a good torque curve.
Call FuelMoto & have them setup a PCIII for your mods.
Have the heads freshened and decked...about 035"-040" will bring new life to that old motor.

Without splitting the cases, many folks opt to bore to 98". Wiseco manufactures them for us, and they come with a complete Cometic gasket set.
That, combined with something as simple as a Wood TW-6G cam set, and a 48mm HPI Marrelli conversion t/body, with a good set of heads**, and you'll be VERY impressed.
IF wanting to go to a 4 3/8" stroke, then we also offer pistons that bring that to 107", and if the cases are split, then as straightforward as boring the cases, to accept an Axtell 4 1/8" cylinder kit will yield 117". Those powerplants can readily produce 130 ft/lbs.
Any of those dedicated touring combinations will be a HUGE increase over, and above, what you are currently running.

Just work your heads and pistons, add gear drive and have the throttle body enlarged as Scott suggested above. Over 100 HP at the rear wheel. Don't sweat the MM EFI, once you can set the cold idle it's trouble free, and without any of the heat and throttle response issues the Delphi ECM can offer.
