Anyone tried an LED lamp?

Anyone tried an LED lamp?
Saw few on ebay for $40 as opposed to a $150 truck lite 7" headlight. They claim its as bright and you can use the OEM housing and reflector.

If this is what you were talking about, I also want to know about this one. $40 seems too cheap to actually work and it's only a single filament (would like if it would at least "flicker" to indicate a high/low signal to someone). I'm still interested!

Those are actually for HID if I am not mistaken. OP is asking about LED. I'm interested too. Same price pretty much as an upgraded aftermarket bulb. Downside I can tell so far is no high beam. Wouldn't take much to be better than the factory high beam anyway though. I have heard a good bulb on low is better than factory on high.

An LED is like an HID, you need a a reflector designed for the light, you can't just stuff a bunch of high intensity CREE LED's onto a post and slam them into a halogen reflector and get any meaningful gains, it'll be dangerous at night blinding oncoming traffic. The truck lite lamp uses the exact same LED for the low beam as it does the high beam, but the design of the reflector is what changes the beam pattern rise and spread. Quit trying to be cheap, risking the lives of yourself and others. LED headlamps are really great when done right.

That's nothing but an LED flood lamp bulb and should not under any circumstances be used on the road. One look at that beam pattern should tell you everything you need to know. You run that on the road at night and you're a total tool.
