Walmart stock was trading at 64.05 at 9:30 am. Harley's stock was trading at 39.62 at the same time. Both Big names, Walmart is closing over 250 stores do to low/slow sales. What do you think Harley's next move will be?.,,,,

My best guess is they will cut production. It appears we're in an economic slowdown with manufacturers and the oil industry at the front end of it.

Buy all the closed stores, and re-open as "Harley-Mart".

Better off making thrift stores out of them.

In regards to the Walmart closing all those stores...don't forget a couple of things.

*Most of the stores they're closing...were small "express" stores that they tried as an experiment. That experiment failed...and those are the majority of the stores being closed. Not the regular big stores you see around.

*What about all the mom and pop stores that used to be in the local towns that Walmart moved into...and closed within a year or a few years after walmart opened? The economy starts with local businesses in your town....and radiates out from there. The squashing of local businesses by giant chains like this...only hurt local economies. I'd actually like to see giant chain stores disappear and allow the local mom 'n pop stores to make a come back.

My dog and I live at the same address.
I woke up this morning and got a cup of coffee.
My dog got up and peed on the tree outside.
What will his next move be?

Two totally different businesses.
Totally different business plans.
No market intersects other than Walmart sells motorcycle helmets and oil.

Bit of a stretch to think the actions of one will have any influence on the actions of the other.

But if you can make the connection, and trade or short their stocks on it. More power to you. Let me know how it works.

But you didn't tell all of the facts
Wal-Mart stock was at this same level as today in January of 2000, it's high was around 85 points in January of 2015, it's lost 20 points or 25% in a year
Harley stock peaked at 71 points in May of 2014 and today @ 39 points it has lost 32 points or 45% during this time.
One that is worse than both of these is Crude oil which was around 120 points in April 2011 and today @ 33 points has lost 87 points or 72%
Harley's next move will rid a few models but stay the course as the name sells.....

I dont think Harley's difficulties have one single thing to do with any economic slowdown.

Have you seen Polaris's recent earnings report?

While I think Harley's executive team is responsible for their problems, I do think the economic slowdown is only adding to their woes. There is no excuse for Harley to be losing market share regardless of economic conditions.

I saw Polaris's CEO speaking this week and he blamed their 4th quarter revenue declines largely on weakness in OVR's and snowmobiles. I guess we can guess where some of their motorcycle market share gains are coming from.
