Default Budget Remote Opener For My Bagger

I started the winter mods for my bagger last week. It started life as an Ultra Classic years ago with the AM/FM/CB combo. The head unit died long ago and I still had the PTT button for the CB on the clutch perch. I decided to clean up the look and get rid of button so I ordered the plain (switchless) mount from the dealer. While I was moving some garbage out of the garage the idea of using the PTT switch as the garage door opener came to me.

The best part is that this solution didn't cost me a dime - I already had all the parts needed. I opened the remote, did a mock up test of the connections and it worked. I soldered a couple of wires to the actuator button on the back of the circuit board, covered it with some shrink tube, added a couple of connectors to the wires and done.

If anyone has an unused PTT button and mount - I have a new switchless mount I would trade. >:-)

I did about the same thing on my lowrider but since I didn't have an existing button to use I made a bracket out of flat steel, added a button and bolted next to the coil on the left side. The opener is double bagged for weather proofing and sits under the seat. Works great.

Nice job.

My budget opener works off my horn button. I push the horn a cpl of times and the OL or one of the kids opens the garage.

Did something simular using a factory mielage toggle/trip recent button on my Heritage. Soldered the buttons wires into the garage door remote and secured it to the bottom of the speedo using velcro and installed the button oposite the factory trip reset button on the housing. Works pretty goood and looks stock. My buddies actually got the idea from a thread on here.
