Andrews Inner gear drive cams.

Andrews Inner gear drive cams.
I have a 99 Ultra Classic EFI with 95 c.i. kit, PCIII, Rhinehart True Duals. According to my Mechanic the run out on my bike is 5 thousandths so I can't go to a complete Gear drive cam setup. I really want to go with an Andrews 26 cam. Can I use the 26 with inner gears and the SE hydraulic tensioner kit with the high volume pump using the chain drive for the outer?

Not sure what you mean by the inner gears vs. just completing the upgrade. But I have the SE hydraulic upgrade and the Andrews 21 gears. Also the high volume oil pump. It has run perfect.
Just remember if you go this route that the '99 bikes require ad additional chain sproket from Andrews.
Just my $0.02, I am super more than pleased with the 21's on my touring bike. Contrary to the myth, they don't run out of steam. They are still better than stock on the top end. But the low end is locomotive fantastic.

I think the problem you would run into is that the chain and the gears run in opposite directions on the outer set. Rear cam turns in the same direction as crank with a chain, but the gear drive outer set would turn in the rear cam opposite of crank rotation. I looked at this too, seems like a good solution, but you would have to have cams for the application, ie, a rear cam ground for clockwise rotation with a gear on it to drive the front cam which would turn counterclockwise, which I don't believe anyone makes?

I called Andrews Tech Support and found out I can't do it with there products. I can either go with a conversion cam and 07 or later camplate and pump or The SE kit and TW26. Apparently according to my Mechanic he has put in S&S inner gear cams with the SE cam plate and hydraulic tensioners with an outer sprocket and chain. This way to inspect the tensioner you only have to pull the cover.

I'm sure its probably out of your price range, but it couldn't hurt to just tear the heads, jugs off, pull the motor, and have the crank trued and welded. It's not that hard, and in the end it will be worth it. Ball hone and re-ring, have your heads trued up and re-built.

It's about like making a sandwich... the hard part is the money, and trust me I know... I'm no stranger to it.

That's to bad sounds like ur stuck going with chain drive. I was was in the same boat as u and went with the Hydro cam plate and so far I'm happy... Why not run the andrews 21 cams? I ran both the 21 has more bite down low on a heavy bike. The 21s with 95inch work great however if u were going to do head work with ur bike the 26s be better
