Had a brain fart
Usually hand my lid on my low side passenger peg (2-1 exhaust with ghost pipe on low side). I parked in a less than desirable spot for a quick stop and hung helmet on the other side (where it was visible). Anyway I wasn't thinking and the helmet was resting on the hot exhaust and melted to the pipes. Not worried about the melt mark in the bottom of the lid but would like to get the melted remnants off the pipes if possible. Would rather not use steel wool as I don't want to scratch the chit out of them, of possible. Any suggestions?

Not anything as bad as that but boot marks on my pipes...I used a penny, laid flat and rubbed gently. The softness of the copper isn't supposed to leave a mark, which it didn't.
I read this method here.

0000 steel wool with Simple Green or dish washing liquid. As long as you don't use the wool dry it will not scratch. Melted my Frog Toggs rain suit on mine going to Daytona, used the wool with no scratches
