J&S Jack VS. HF lift
Ok...So I wanted to "evaluate" both the J&S Jack and the Harbor Freight table lift. I wanted to see if I liked the lift better that the jack and also check the quality and height on both. I ordered the J&S jack from Steve on Monday and it got here today (Friday). Speedy shipping! I also purchased the HF table lift today. I also purchased the "black", more expensive, chock at HF. I unpacked the HF lift from the wood box it was in. The damn thing was real heavy. I installed the tie downs and the pump and release levers. Then I jacked it up to get access to the bottle jack so I could make sure it was full. (thanks for the advise)..I filled it to the top and then aligned the chock drilled the four holes required to secure the chock and secured it with a 4 1/2 inch overhang. Next I put the lift up and down and bled the air per the manual. After making sure things were A OK...I put my '14 Ultra Limited on the HF lift and almost put it on the floor. If you use this lift you may want to buy or build side panels so you can put your feet down when you put it on the lift. After about 5 minutes of trying to put it on, I finally got it in the chock. The chock worked great. No complaints about the chock but I've heard in other posts if you use it on the floor, you should screw the front to a wall. Anywho...
I also bought tie downs and tied the motorcycle down. Checked everything out again. I pumped the jack and it took about 4-5 pumps before it started to lift. I pumped..and pumped..and pumped some more. I finally got it to the max height. I proceeded to put the safety bar in the holes across the bottom of the lift and the lift didn't lift it high enough to slide the safety bar in place. It was about 1/8" to low. So I brought the bike back down to the floor and bled the air 2 more times. Put it back up and gained about 1/16" and was able to tap the end of the safety bar with a hammer to get it through the other side. So i started to look at the bike (See attached pics) and noticed that the bottle jack was leaking (See attached pics). I also noticed that the rear wheel sliding cover was a little bent. In addition the screw in leg on the right side was a little bent. I immediately lowered the bike and called Harbor freight technical support. I talked to a gentleman who indicated that the seals were NFG (which I already knew). He recommended to return it for another one. I called the manager of the store and let him know I was on the way to return it. BTW, I didn't purchase another one. I didn't feel that this table lift was stable and was a "Quality Tool" like all other Harbor Freight tools..lol..So I also returned the chock because I didn't need it. The folks were great at HF but lacked the cash in the register and I had to wait 15 minutes to get it from the safe. Life happens...PART 2...J&S Jack...OK, so after I get home FeDex dropped the J&S Jack in the driveway. I unpacked the jack which was very well packed and removed it out of the bags etc. I read the directions and put it together. I had a problem with the foot pedal. When I attached it I screwed it down too hard and it broke in the hole. I drilled another hole and put a new screw in and it worked ok. I'll probably get another one from Steve...I tested the jack a couple of times and it worked great. I slid it under the bike and started to pump like the video showed AND, sure enough, what they said in the video worked fine. I pumped...and pumped...then pumped a little more until it was to it's highest point. The safety bars (one on each side) engaged as it went up until I got to the highest point. I had to push them in the slot at the highest point, but there was enough play to get them in. Lowered the jack with the Jiffy stand down and the bike rested perfectly. The only negative thing I have to say is about the bottle jack. The lever moved around alot and had too much play in it...I love the J&S jack. I'm glad I returned the HF table lift. I would recommend the J&S Jack over the HF any day. The height of the J&S jack was less but I bought a HF rolling seat and it made things very comfortable and at the right height. The cost of the HF Lift was $299 and $47 for the chock (parking lot sale). The J&S cost $429.28 including shipping (Fathers Day sale)....Hope this helps you make the decision....If yu have additional questions, please feel free to PM me.

Been building bikes off one of those for , oh , 9 years now with no issues . You guys with bus sized baggers maybe I can understand the fears
