Exhausted sounds muted after engine heats up
Hello, I am new hdforums.com. I've tried searching for this problem and came up empty handed. So sorry if this issue is posted else where.
I am having a problem when my engine heats up or it's a hot day. The exhaust sounds great when I first start the engine on a cool day. After riding for only a few minutes when the engine heats up and the exhaust starts to sound muted and gets quiet. It's hard to really explain but basically after it's heated up its sounds more like vroom than the classic Harley blap blap blap sound.
This problem is on my 1989 Fxlr. It has a supertrap 2 into 1 exhaust. Lots of upgrades on it.
Please help. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you to anyone who can help.

When the choke or enrichener goes goes off when the engine warms up, less gas is exploding, making less noise. My cam lope is much more noticeable and enjoyable and louder when the engine is cold.

I ran 1 3/4" drags on my 93 FXLR, noise? what noise. Post some pics of the FXLR, I love those bikes and WILL get another someday.

How long have you been riding, and has this always done this? Reason I ask is, when I fire my bike up now (new exhaust installed), it sounds very loud. After a while, not so much. I chalk it up to getting used to the sound as I ride it.
