Ok, so this is really starting to bug me. I have about 1500 miles on the bike and I feel as if in the last few hundred miles its beginning to sound like an old VW engine. Obviously the exhaust note aside, it seems to be coming from the bike's engine area. It doesn't do it at idle, but as soon as you hit certain RPMs I feel that I hear this clicking. It is uniform and not sporatic, but still. I am not sure if I am just now listening for it or if it is a actually supposed to sound like that, help anyone.

Your motor is still new and settling in. I wouldn't worry about it. Every time I ride one of mine I could swear I hear something different in the engine that I never heard before. Break it in and ride it.
I feel that I have done the break in properly till now, followed the book, and suggestions of this forum from people, but still don't want to make the mistake of riding it when something isnt right and then have more damage later on to deal with. Guess I am just paranoid cause I like to take care of the things I own.
I have about 1700 miles on mine and I THINK I know what your talking about.....Not very loud and probably only noticable to the rider?....I wouldn't say it sounds like a VW bug tho.....not really even sure it sounds like valve clatter...or maybe its just the best valve clatter I ever heard?

Have you made sure that all the screws are still where they belong, inside your air cleaner housing?
Mine sounds the same way.
A lot has to do with the engines being air cooled and the lack of water jackets that do isolate noise, you will hear everything (the VW's were air cooled as well). I find sometimes that different helmets (if you wear one that is) amplify specific noises, makes it sound even worse. Evolution engines are noisey, adds to the character.
Have a buddy ride the bike past you, you won't hear the rattles only the exhuast.
TICKA TICKA TICKA TICKA TICKA TICKA TICKA TICKA TICKA
That's the sound they all make! I remember being a pissed off new Sportster owner back in 2003, trying my best to convince the dealer that there was something wrong with my bike...
Totally normal, I'd be worried if you said it didn't make a noise!!
