It almost sounds like it's going into the limp mode ( no throttle) just idle if that's the case there is a wiring harness that plugs into the left side of the throttle body unplug it spray it with contact cleaner then put some dielectric grease on it and plug it back in

 

no mate speedo worked fine as the bike would only get up to 30mph before the problem kicked in
the problem is im off to the south of france 1st week of may and i really need it to be spot on

 

Check and clean that harness to the throttle body clean and use dielectric grease it has been a known problem with the pins fretting and not making good contact if it's at a dealer ask them to check that I'm sure h/d had a service bulletin on it

its still in HD i am there tomorrow he claims its the vance and hines fuel pack im not sure though

 

Do you have the old style fuel pack or the new FP3? I had one of the old style one fail on me and the bike did all sorts of strange stuff. I have the new FP3 now and it runs better than ever. V& h gave me some credit on my old one seeing I was the original purchasers of it.
