Default Harley sidecar wheel

I have another question, I bought a 97 Harley ultra classic sidecar with DRUM BRAKES.. It has the 10 spoke aluminum mag type wheel that was used on the touring models during most of the 1990's. I will be buying a 95-99 Road King to attach to it. I certainly want all 3 wheels to match. I would like to know if the wheel that is on the sidecars is a special wheel used exclusively on the sidecar or is it a wheel that is either a front or rear wheel used on the touring models in similar years. I am hoping from a monetary standpoint that its just a Harley touring wheel. I just want to be sure that if i buy a bike with chrome spokes that I wont have any problem getting a used chrome spoke matching wheel for the sidecar without spending a fortune. Thanks

Good question. I would pull the wheel and take off the drum and look at it. The bolt pattern for the drum may be the same as for a disc. If you have to, drop a wheel on the bike and measure both of them.

Al, Thanks for responding, The problem is that I havent bought the bike yet. If I knew the answer to my question then I could set my search criteria accordingly, so far I am only searching for 94-99 R kings with the MAG wheel. If I knew that I could use an easily obtainable and reasonably priced factory spoke wheel on my sidecar then I could probably double my search possibilities. It's no real big deal ,Just one of those Bucket List Projects Thanks Again, Happy Holidays!

I would tend to stay with the mag wheel. There is a lot of torque on the wheels of a sidecar rig when turning; it put a lot of stain on the spokes. When I had a sidecar
on a 2000 Heritage, I changed the wheels to Fat Boy solid discs after I broke a couple of spokes.

Nibroc, Thanks , So you are saying that the sidecar has a slightly larger axle than the motorcycles themselves ,Right? I roughly measured the front axle on my 2010 ultra and it looks like about 5/8"

HD has been using 25mm axles on touring models since 2008
