RE: ECM recalibration
THAT SUCKS!!! They are treating us like ying yangs! How do you dial in your motor? Do they just put a canned map on bike? I'm glad I have 06, with my SERT in a safe place. PURPLE HAZE.

RE: ECM recalibration
Different shops have different policies.....
The shop where I work, it is not an issue, UNLESS ..... The map has been tampered with to cause damage to the motor, because some virtual tuner said to set some or all of the cells to a certain value, and the motor ran lean enough to burn a hole in the piston, or the carbon is so thick and crusty because it was set too fat, that it jammed up the exhaust valve and got bent.....
Seen it already....
What most SERT tuners do is give a certain code or do something unique to the map, like a signature, so when it does come back, you can tell if it has been tampered with.... Seen that too.... That is why I hate giving customers their maps back to them on a CD....
They get a copy of the map that I built for them, install the software and start tinkering away... before you know it, the bike is back, 'cuz it doesn't run right.... Customer swears up and down the stack of SE catalogs that they NEVER touched it.....
Then I show them that they forgot to do 1 little thing.... Bingo... warrenty denied....
And NO... I am not telling anyone where to look for the signature... It is a secret, and only my dog Duke knows, and he ain't talking......

RE: ECM recalibration
they are real strict now I did all that you did, the bad thing was when my ecm went out on me the sert was no good and they would not warranty the stage one down load either. I had to pay for a new stage one down load. I order a tmax and when I get it install I am going to put that Harley ecm in a deep dark abyss where it wont see the light of day. I here a lot of good things about the tmax with auto tune It is not a bad idea and that’s how a fuel injected system should be run.

RE: ECM recalibration
I bought a 2007 Ultra classic - had the Rinehrt's installed along with the screaming eagle air filter - was told I needed to add the race tuner - which I did - now come to find out they put it on but I need to go back to get it mapped?? They used a standard map.......

RE: ECM recalibration
Thats exactly why im not happy letin them(dealer) do this and its soo easy to at least try a proven map first and then deside if i want to bring it back for a dyno. also saven the 75/hr is a bonusand what if im totally happey for now with that map and they screw it up on the dyno-matic-machine?
