Default 81 ironhead wants to start.

I'm trying to get my old ironhead going, it wants to start but I'm pretty sure the carb needs going through. It's bored 60 over and seems way to rich also it won't stay running once the prime burns off. Any help is great. Any recommendations for rebuild kit?

OK, so it starts and idles, and continues running if you twist the throttle? Then if you put it in 1st gear does it immediately stop? or does it stop when you release the clutch lever [engage the clutch] to ride off?

I got the clutch adjusted bled the brakes and rode around the neighborhood it sure felt strange to be back on it again but it was fun. I have some cleaning and sorting left to do yet.

Good news! Nothing like the look, sound and feel of an IronHead.

Well in the process of getting this bike road worthy again I was replacing the brushes in the genarator. well I had a small eletrical fire. I suppose its time for an alternator. Are there any ideas on what i should look for?

Poweraythor is a member of the other IronHead forum. He is a Canadian, and builds a very high quality alternator ...

The V-Twin alternator has been used successfully by several IronHead forum members. Buy from any of the usual suppliers, J&P Cycle etc ...
