Excellent!!!

Thank you for being the BETA testers for this new model. Us poor folks like to hear these kind of things before we have the funds to buy one ourselves.

New engine on hand and photos of damage. Work being done here at Lone Wolf Harley Davidson, Spokane. Good crew there.

Interesting,

So how does this play with your registration since the engine #'s dont match anymore. I know in CA they are sticklers for that kind of stuff. Does the dealer contact the DMV.

Didn't know that little of damage could warranty a new motor. See if you can replicate the problem again once the new motor is in

The engine will match the VIN.

It's interesting that you had low pressure and the damage appears to be in the scavenge pump.. Doubt the ding was the problem unless it somehow managed to damage the feed side.

The scavenge pump side and the feed side on the oil cooled models look the same. While they are different it's not by much and would be hard to tell in a photo.

That explains it.. Thanks.. I knew the pumps were different but all the stuff I've seen so far show the feed gerotor being smaller. So it's the feed side of the pump that pushes oil through the heads? Do they simply use an orifice to control flow ? Or something else?

I get the check valve bit and sub supplier QC issues but where's the metal shavings coming from that are big enough to take out heavy gears that size ? That would have to be some substantial stuff to be floating around inside a new engine. That one worries me and nobody seems to be focusing on that little glaring issue.

First it don't look like a metal shaving. Second, it really depends on where the particle came from..
