Default Best Place/Most Reliable to Buy Blacked Out Front End Kit (Retail or Exchange)?

Looking for the best place (most reliable & affordable) to purchase a blacked out front end kit for my 2014 Street Glide. I'm up for doing an exchange program if other forum members can suggest a good reliable company out there. I appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks!

I used Surdyke. I would imagine powder coating would be a cheaper way to go, but I wanted the HD factory finish. I also did the Burst cow bells instead of just black.

Subscribed. Interested in the same exact thing. Powdercoating would be cheapest. Powdercoating and a polish.

Yes I believe Powder Coating is the way to go with this. Significantly cheaper. Looking for suggestions on who has the best exchange program

I am doing the same thing right now with a 15 RG. I saw a customers powder coated bike. While its cheaper the chances of getting back orange peel black is pretty high. The orange peel effect is that the surface of the powder coating doesn't bake to a mirror smooth surface like a good blacked out part should be. The part looks like the surface of an orange with an uneven look.

I decided that some parts would be off the rack HD swap out parts like the front end and dash plate. Other stuff like crash bars/hangers, foot peg/floor board base would be perfect for a powder coat through a good local shop. This will drop the cost to black out the lower visible items and not worry if they aren't 100% free of orange peel.

I have my stock dealer take offs from my 2014 SGS. The lower legs & cow bells all boxed up if someone is looking to buy to do powder coating.

I bought factory HD, since the dealer was doing it before I took delivery of the bike and didn't want to be waiting for powder coater.

I was going to suggest something like that as an option.

But as mentioned a couple posts up, orange peel can be a real buzz kill. You really have to research the work and see examples. I have a friend that powder coated every piece of chrome on his denim black SG. Looks like ***. Really, really horrible. Plasti-Kote would look better. Basically ruined a beautiful bike.

100% agree. People in my thread couldn't quite get that....

Find a local powder coat guy with a good reputation and it isn't an issue. If you get something back with orange peel, send it back. They strip it and re coat it. I did a tone of gloss black powder coat on my bike over the holidays. Basically everything but wheels, forks, primary and engine covers. When I got it back, one piece ( a saddlebag latch) had a run. I sent it back, and got the perfectly refinished piece back for free within a week. Ask your local indy shop, or even your dealership, who they use for powder coat.

I wouldn't buy powder coated parts online, even to save a few bucks. The only place I would even consider online is The Powder Pro.

Here's a kit we offer. It looks good but powder coating the front legs is not a perfect look. You can have a kit like this for about $250 exchange and it will look ok and be durable but if you want perfection then I suggest a set of billet forks (which are more in the $500-$600 range)

And here is a close up of the "orange peel" effect you can expect. Hope this helps.
