Default Harley 6-spd transmission

Question of the day or a 2009 Road King. Where is the oil stored for the transmission? Is it in the transmission or the oil pan assembly under the trans-engine? When you pull the transmission plug to drain the oil is there simply a path thru the pan to allow the tranny oil to drain or is the tranny oil within the pan (Part 77) and separated from the engine oil within the same pan?

I'm trying to find a diagram or transmission oil flow chart...

The transmission lube is contained in the transmission case.

The engine oil is stored in a separate reservoir that is mounted to the bottom of the transmission case.

62489-99A is the oil pan. There are two plugs on the pan, one for engine oil and one for transmission oil.
So when you pull the transmission plug that is on the oil pan is the oil coming out of the transmission or the pan? It was explained to me that there's a separator (separate compartment) inside the pan assembly so both oils are inside the pan assembly??

NEGATIVE ... One plug for the transmission ( accessed at the bottom of the transmission directly at the bottom of the transmission ) There are two (2) "plugs" on the engine oil pan, however ONLY ONE is for draining the oil ... the other is a "source" for installing an oil temperature gauge etc ... Refer to your owners manual.

There''s actually three plugs in the pan. Two up front (one is engine oil) and one in the rear of the plan. So the plug that's in the rear of the pan, near the frame, when you pull it transmission oil dumps thru a passage in the pan, correct??
