Default slight "clunk" on declaration and acceleration

Hello
Last couple rides on my 12 street glide I have noticed a clunk or metallic sounds kind of the noise you would expect when backlash is taken up between two heavy gears when ever I am in the upper gears and I let off the throttle it clunks and again when I get on it again. Seems to me it's coming from the area of the primary drive. I have tried to find some information but I still am not certain on where to start. I'll probably take it in tomorrow if I can't get anywhere here. Thank you very much for any help I can get.
Bryan

Sounds like a loose or worn Compensator to me. Pretty easy fix. IIRC, there are YouTube videos that show how to do it.

Thank you. Would this be covered in the service manual?

I went on YouTube, searched this forum and read through my service manual. Am I correct to assume that I just need to retorque the compensating sprocket bolt as described in the manual? What else do I check or look for? Thank you

Another question is I have a ride planned for this afternoon. Should I not ride until this is resolved?
Thanks again!

I talked with a mechanic today. He mentioned I may be just riding at a too low rpm. I am going to test this theory but I'm going to Sturgis I'm not sure I want to take chances.

Still hoping to get more insight on this. I have appointment at hd for Thursday. I hate going there but I can't get in anywhere else. On the phone he was already talking about putting in a new SE compensator. If I had the money I'd think it was a great idea but I don't so I'm trying to keep this reasonable. I hope to hear more feedback. Thank you.

Looks like I'll just bring it in and have it looked over not much information on here. I'll bring my Vaseline.
