Unable to kick my '73 shovel, will not move. Took the crank cover off, able to turn the crank nut about one full rotation before it hit something and will not move. Please need some suggestions on how to fix this problem. Starter turns the engine, but stops as well.

Is there oil in the motor?

 

Did this issue just appear, or did it happen after working on the bike?

 

Take the primary chain off, and then try turning the engine and kicking the trany over separated / separately , you'll then know which one is frozen up. Tear down the frozen up one.

 

Thanks for the info. Still have the problem. I had some problems with the spark plug helicoil size prior to this new problem. I found replacement helicoil and fixed the issue. Prior to the spark plug problem I was able to kick the bike with no issues. About 2 weeks later I took the bike off the lift and like mentioned earlier nothing will budge. All fluids checkout okay. I tried kick or electric starting the bike in all gears and neutral and nothing will work. The kicker will not budge unless I pull in the clutch and operates as normal.

 

Will it turn over with the spark plugs removed?

 

No it will not turn over.
