Hello all, I'm heading to Hawaii soon and I'm looking for advise on renting a Harley. Any do's and don't would be appreciated.

 

what island? Not sure there will be lot of open road on Oahu... been years since I was there, tho.

Kauai, Maui or the big island did.

 

Oahu. Found some good rates but typically spend most our time in the water and not on the roads. I've riding for 10 years and never had the desire to rent before. Not sure what to look out for>

 

Just rented from Cycle city, good deal for 5 days (550), hosed for short term. Nice bikes and people there.

 

I've rented 3 different times from a local dealer mainly to get a better feel for a model than I could get from a short Demo Days ride. I found it to be a pleasant and hassle free experience and quite similar to renting a car. I feel the HD rental program is great and I hope it continues.

 

Man 'aint that the truth! Rented an Ultra Limited from Bruce Rossmeyer for 24 hours last time I was in Daytona because I was thinking of buying one. If I remember right it was about $185.00.

Yes Cycle City is right next to the Airport as well, there are plenty of roads to ride on and bring a camera. Night time travel is not so good as they are working on most of the roads (putting in the new rail system and changing guard rails) Only tips I can give you if you are not here yet is drive defensively!!! Some people really don't look out for the bikes out here. Other than that it is nice to just cruise. Weekends are big as the groups all ride, both of our HOG chapters ride on Sat and Sun, early link up at Cycle City around 9 am or so, just ask when you stop in. Have fun and a great vacation.
