Sturgis SD to Colorado Rockies

Sturgis SD to Colorado Rockies
Ok, so rode to Sturgis in 2012 and planning on riding out again this year. Riding in the Black Hills and Eastern Wyoming was amazing to say the least. The plan for this year is to spend 4 days in the Black Hills, and then head south to ride around the Colorado Rockies just west of Denver. Rt550 is on my list, as well as Estes Park. I should have about 5 days to run around once we depart Sturgis, but I have to drop my gal off in Denver on the way home for her to fly home to NYC for work. Looking for route recommendations in the Rockies. What are the "must ride" roads with the best views? Any good places to stay/eat along the way?
Thanks in advance!

Take the 34 out of Loveland and up to the top of Trail Ridge. Come back down Trail Ridge to Estes Park and take the 36 split to Estes where you take the 7 south and follow the Peak to Peak Highway thru Nederland/Ward and continue thru Central City to I-70. From there you have lots of options. If short on time, you can just take 70 west all the way to Grand Junction. You take 50 south to Montrose where you can take 550 all the way to Durango over the Million $ Highway going thru Ouray & Silverton.
If you have time once you get to 70, there are lots of choices getting to Montrose to begin the Million $ Highway. SJ Ron

88, If you liked the Black Hills your gonna love Co. Make your way down to Estes Park, ride into Estes from Loveland up rte 34 thru Big Thompson Canyon, (like SJRon recommends). Ride the NP, Trail Ridge Rd. If you have time another great loop is rte 36 into Lyons, rte 7 up to 72, (rte 7 from Lyons is great your in a yellow canyon full of twisty's with perfect blacktop and no traffic, one of my favorite roads) You can take rte 72 (Peak to peak) to Interstate 70 go west to Dillion (big blue lake). You could stay in that area and ride rte 9, 91, 24, and 82 into Aspen. If your heading down to Durango go down thru the middle of the state take 70 to rte 91 to 24, to 50 to the Silver Thread (149) to 160 thru Wolf Creek pass to Durango and then ride the San Juan Highway loop which includes the Million $ Highway! Your gonna love Co. San Juan Mt's are the highest Mt's and IMO one of the most scenic area in the U.S. Good luck and good riding.
