YES thats one thing I dont like about the 14's hands being above the fairing but the mirrors are better on the fairing because they dont vibrate as much . Im about the same size as you 5'10. Idk nothing is perfect . I already have a really nice set of 14" sweeping beaters that I should use on the new bike . I love riding with apes

You can't go wrong with the 14" Apes, especially considering that you already had them on a previous bike and you liked the way they were. I came from riding a FatBoy and then a CVO Breakout, so having my meathooks above the fairing on my new scoot isn't an issue for me, I absolutely love my 14" Yaffe Monkey Bars and they are so much more comfortable then OEM bars that came on my scoot. I say go for it.
