Default First Ride 82 FXR

Finall took the new bike out for a short ride. I certainl agree with those who say that the FXR is a superior performing frame to the dyna! It is stable yet very agile (actually feels a bit like a Vrod IMO). The shovel ran nice, took running 45 min before it began to drip a bit (seems to be from the breather). Overall, I am thrilled with the bike.

Thanks for everyone's input on my initial issues.

Thanks. Are these oil drips from the breather fixable? Is this the usual source of oil leak from shovels?

I just sold my '84 FXRT a few days ago. Kinda kicking myself. Great riding bike.

Congratulations!
The thrill of the first ride on my 76 fxe will be with me forever.
Is there a chain oiler on your model? That could be your leak. Just a guess.

No...either the oil tank is overfull, or the damn breather has a Filter on it...Useless oil catcher, guaranteed to warm up and Drip.

Thanks, yes i think the breather does have a filter on it. What should I put in its place to minimize the drips?

Also I noticed that my bike has the shift lever exiting tranny on right side of bike and clutch cable is routed behind pushrod tubes and then upward. Whats the deal with this??

Thanks

Route the hose ...without any obstructions, down behind motor at approx. middle of frame...but not in front of tire.
Only check oil or change oil...after a Reasonably lengthy ride.
