any help where this mounts on the bike? ...
2-part bracket pn 65196-80 & 65199-80

I got this '80 in pieces so occasionally
these mysteries pop up. parts & factory
manuals don't help, nor did my search
of pix here or elsewhere.

it seems it should mount somewhere back
of the motor as the right header does and
not the frame since motor is rubber mount.

mine is apart as well But i believe it goes on the original rear pass foot rest -- not the rear floorboard you have on the bike now - that is a later year not sure what one but that is not the correct factory foot rest for 1980 and 1981

 

I know this thread is 7 years old but I was just asking the same question in the garage trying to figure out this hacked up exhaust mount someone made on my new to me 80 FLT and looking in the parts manual I can tell you it mounts to the engine slap dab in the center top of the crankcase just below the cylinders. You can see on the crankcase exploded view the same bracket and where it mounts. It is part number 42 in the pic. Maybe another 7 years someone else will be looking for this and find it as my google search pulled this thread up.

 

The post is 7 1/2 years ago and he never came back so maybe its still apart

he had an FLHT you have a one year 1980 FLT exhaust and nothing is available for that anymore you need to fab what you need
