Default chopped rear fender/great bike gear plate

Anybody chop their slready chopped rear fender and run the great bike gear kit? I'm thinking about buying a used fender to experiment with. Id like to "chop" it do its even with the fender struts, and shorten the great bike gear plate/relo kit to fit. Anyone do this or anything similar? I have a 17 fxdls but would be interested to see anything similar before I get started.

This is what I'm lookin at. Now that I see it, I'm not so sure I like it, but still would like to experiment with it and see what I come up with.

Check for some old posts by member "muddyape". One of the early versions of his Hooligan bike has a really sharp chopped fender. I think it will be very, very close to.what you want. He's even got good in-progress pics so you can see exactly what he did.

Understood. Maybe the principles can translate. The key to his look is lowing the fender and enlarging the inside radius. Chopping the strut may not be required. Playing with a cheap fender should provide good insight.

That one in your pic looks like it was wrecked, and they cut off the damaged part.

Maybe. It's just an image I found on Google. I like the fenders when they are chopped really short but I can't do it or the bike wouldn't suit my needs.
