Default Drag when starting

Fully charged battery. New stator, rotor, and voltage regulator. Started great at first but now when I hit the starter, it acts like it shuts off, then fires up. Cleaned cables to frame and battery but still no help? Could it be a cable to starter?

It could be but it also could be that your bike, whatever model that is, is trying to start on the compression stroke.

Seems to do it hot or cold. Almost every time too. This morning did it first thing, but when I got gas, fired right up. Just worried about being stranded.

How old is your battery? Even if it appears to be fully charged, I could have a problem. Also, at some point you might want to consider upgrading your battery cables. I did and it was like night and day in the way the bike cranks. The stock cables are borderline on size and current carrying apacity..

Brand new battery. Less than 8 months old and kept on trickle charger. And did the cables when I found out it was something else.

Your OEM battery cable isn't big enough to deliver the charge necessary to turn over your motor. Install a larger aftermarket cable and problem solved. You also might want to invest in a battery with a higher Cold Cranking Amps capacity.

My bet is your solenoid washer needs to be cleaned up. If you had elec problems before that can be hard on a solenoid.
