Default question on tuning after new pipes

Hey all,
I just recently bought a fuel injected 2001 Heritage Softail Classic and need some info/rec's on tuning after I install new pipes. This is the first fuel injected bike I have owned. Right now the bike has a stage 1 screamin eagle upgrade, vance and hines longshots, and NO add on tuner. I just bought a pair of Samson Caliber pipes part# S-700. But before I install them I need to know if I should buy a V&H Fuel Pak, Powercommander, or what. I looked at the Powercommander website, but did not see a map preset for the Samson Calibers. Should I even bother with getting an add on tuner, or just get it dyno tuned at the dealer???? Any guidance would be appreciated!

Default RE: question on tuning after new pipes

I bought a PCIII this last year and put it on my bike. I've got hooker troublemakers, and there was not a canned map for that...so I called their customer service. The guy at power commander asked me what kinda setup I was runnin and we found a map that worked awsome for me. I think it was the 2004BRwith the high flow air filter. Anyways, they'll find ya a map to suggest, if it dosn't work you then just go get the dyno. Dyno will do the best job at tuning, but my phone call and experiments in the garage were free. I've gotta laptop that I just took in the garage and plugged right into the PC.
The only problem I had was a bit of lean pop on decel, so I called em again and they talked me through how to get rid of the pop.

So do you have a high flow air filter? If ya do, you GOTTA get a tuner, or you'll wreck ur bike. The maintenance manual says with a stock air filter you can run any pipes, but the second you change the filter to high flow, you gotta add a fuel management system. if you go to dyno they'll put a system on ur bike depending on what pipes u got.

I would definitely come up with the x-tra bucks, you'll see a mass improvement with the performance of your scoot. Just my .02
