Springer yes or no.

Springer yes or no.
I'm thinking on selling my 07 Fatboy and buy a 2006 Springer.
I know it is an older biker and ha smaller engine, but my friends have smaller engines that my bike and does not seem to be a problem when making trips.
Would like to ask Springer owners if the bike needs ant extra care or special mantainance just because it is a Springer. Maybe the front fork?
Also 5 understand the engine is the same as the standard softail, is'nt it?

RE: Springer yes or no.
then, it would be a trade "up" for you. do it and be happy.
and don't listen to anyone giving you crap about how they love their Fat Boy and you should too... or how you'll loose money doing this swap... or what you'll give up with the 88 motor over the 96 motor.
just go for it!

I have an 05 Springer and if I had to do it all over again, I would still buy the Springer. It has the look that I was after. I also think that how a person takes care of their bike will determine how long it will last. I only have a little over 15,000 miles on mine and the front end hasn't given me any trouble. To each his/her own, but I do like the Springer.

I've hadnothing butSpringers the past 12 years (a '97 FLSTS and my current '07 FLSTSC.) Based on my experience with a '96 FLSTC, I think the FL Springers' front end geometrymakes them track steadier at highway speeds than the FL Softails with Glide forks (just MHO; YMMV.) On the other hand, that same geometry makes them a bit less handy at parking lot speeds.
But then you don't buy an FL Springer to carve canyons...
