Question about the Springer???
I love the look of the Softail Springer and I'm looking at possibly purchasing one. Anyone have information on advantages? disadvantages? differences? etc....
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I just bought an 05 Springer Classic and LOVE IT! Besides having an absolutly beautifull front end, it rides nice and smooth and handles great. HD makes the best looking springer fork out there (in my opinion). I say go for it, you'll love it!
I have heard you either love it or hate it.
Never rode a springer myself so i dont know.
I heard that with a springer turning is alot quicker. With normal shocks you push handlebars and then it starts turning. The springer you think about pushing the bars and its already turning. I know wtf but thats what i hear. I never met anyone that has one that regrets buying. They all love them.
The front end is definitly hot looking. Enjoy it

I have a new 2005 2 tone black cherry and black pearl FX Springer. I really also liked the Deluxe, but ultimately chose the Springer for the retro front end. My impressions of the Springer so far is that it pulls like a tractor on steroids. The Springer has a heavier front end, which I really like on the road. Turning radius on Harleys is a little more challenging than my Triumph America, mainly because the bike is heavier. I bought D&D exhausts before it left the dealer and there is nothing like the sound of a Harley with less restrictive exhausts. ALso added the Sundowner seat and compact windshield (all detachable). Bike really looks great and the Springer front ends give the bike a little more personality. Don't see much of them, so they are a little unique as Harleys go. I am very pleased with the bike and the accessory list is great for the soft tails. If you like the looks of the Springer, you won't be disappointed with the performance or the ride.
Disadvantage? Yea, cleaning all that chrome! No really, I like rubbing chrome. I use it as cheap therapy. I think the Springers a sweet looking rides. If I didn't have a Heritage I would probably have a Springer.

I see absolutely no disadvantages with the Springer. There are some that say it's a rough ride and others that it's harder in turns but that's just all nonsense IMO. Sure, the ride is different but in no way inferior. It has a more bouncy feel in the front end but it's smooth and not at all obnoxious. I have an '05 Springer Classic but love the FX just as much. My SC handles great and I use it for short rides as well as extended trips. Do a search on here for springers 'cause this question comes up from time to time.

With the springer it still bottoms out on sharp bumps, but you learn to watch and avoid the bumps/holes. If you plan on doing a lot of double up riding, be aware that on the curves you'll get plenty of floorboard action. I think the sound of scraping boards is great, my wife starts banging on my back after about the third curve. Says it makes her teeth hurt...
I will admit that I'm not an authority on the ride qualities of the other Harleys, but I have owned my Springer for just about 1 year and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I really like the looks of the springer front end and I have gotten several comments on how it looks. Put a set of apes on it and it really looks COOL, but then again, I am a little prejudice.
