Intall help Rush slip ons part #20804 on 2003 heritage
I previously posted thinking I got the wrong mufflers. I spoke with a guy from Epiflex (their service is outstanding). \\; He explained that I did get the right mufflers. \\; The previous owner of my bike installed SE II mufflers and they don't have an exhaust crossover. \\; He stated I should get a stock bracket and the gaskets. So I was relieved.
 \\;
I spoke with the Harley parts dept and he said my bracket is probably good and I just need the gaskets. \\; So I'm out at my bike looking at it, lining up the mufflers and I just can't figure this out\\; I'm a pretty good wrencher, mind you, but I can’t figure the crossover pipe thing. The SE II s don’t have it.
What I want to know is, how do the two crossover ports on the Rush mufflers hook together? On the heritage pipes, they are welded on up by the neck where they slip on the head pipe. \\; When I line them up behind the head pipes, the ports are no where near each other. \\;Do I need another piece of pipe???  \\;It doesn't look like there would be much room for anything there. I’m perplexed. \\; I tried looking at stock heritage exhaust pictures but can’t see it.
And if the previous owner installed SE IIs, did they use the stock mounting bracket or did they use a different one? I don't want to start taking this apart until I know the right install process and parts needed. \\; Any help would definitely be appreciated, this is driving me crazy. \\;

RE: Intall help Rush slip ons part #20804 on 2003 heritage
I have vance&\\; hines slip-ons on my Road king and use the factory crossover. \\; As the name would suggest, they just "slip on" in place of the factory mufflers. \\; I have used SEII mufflers on other bikes as well and it was the same deal. \\; Old mufflers slide off, new mufflers slide on. \\; The crossover was always built into the header so that was never an issue. \\; Perhaps the mufflers you have were mislabeled or are to be used with the Rush headers. \\; You might also try posting this in the touring section.

oops I was thinking the heritage has the same configuration as the Road King. \\; sorry. \\; However, on my softail what I said earlier still holds. \\; The crossover is still built into the header and connects to the mounting bracket. \\;

On my 05 Heritage I put Rush slip ons on it and there is a stock crossover pipe that bolts to the frame and attaches to the crossover holes on the slip ons. You will have to buy that crossover pipe it sounds like to me.

On the '03 Heritage, the SEII kit came with a new mounting bracket. The new bracket eliminated the cross over and each pipe was seperate. If you want to reinstall the crossover assy, you will need the stock bracket. More horsepower was gained by eliminating the crossover. That is why it was done. \\;
