Cycleshack slip on help
)but just want to be sure that my bike is done right. Looked at factory mufflers that will come off and does not look to hard at all. Just new to working on my bike and I'd rather ask for advice now rather than after I've done something that was obviously stupid! I'll get some pictures taken when it's done. Thanks for any info.
Then, loosen the clamps holding each muffler to the exhaust pipe.
At this point you're ready to begin pulling off each muffler. It will either be a piece of cake, or a real pain in the ***. Just be careful not to wrench on the pipes too bad because you can unseat the seal where the pipes meet the head. I've heard this will give your exhaust a chirping noise. Haven't experienced it myself.
Slide your new clamps on to the pipe before slipping on your new mufflers (buy new clamps... they're cheap).
What I did was reconnect the bracket to each muffler loosly so I could slip on both mufflers as kind of one unit since they're now bracketed together. This helped keep everything somewhat in line and it only took a few small adjustments after that to twist each pipe into position and begin tightening everything down.
Make final adjustments to get them straight, and tighten everything down (4 bolts holding bracket, and two clamps).
Here's a thread I started not too long ago on this subject. It really is easy as hell: https://www.hdforums.com/m_2122722/tm.htm
