Default Power Commander III in '08 Softail

The install instructions and diagrams that came with my '07-'08 model PC III are not correct for the 2008 Softail. The plastic housing that holds all of the relays and wiring has changed, can't be easily removed, and would result in these wires being exposed to the battery. The relays will not be anchored to anything. There is also not enough clearance to pass through the PC III connectors from a mounting location in front of the rear mudflap.

It appears as though DynoJet has not done a test install on an '08 Softail. Has anyone successfully installed a PC III on the '08? Thanks.

Yeah, I had that concern when I installed mine. The PCIII connectors will fit through one of the other slots behind the mudflap...barely. Just connect everything as the instructions state and use a bit of ingenuity for the rest.

it should fit like my 07. I left the bracket and the relays on and there is already opening to the place where the factory alarm would have been. I only had to cut the tie raps to move the harness aside so the cable would pass thry the relay bracket

The assumption is that there is no difference between the '07 and '08 softails. At least in the battery compartment it is different than the DynoJet diagram. I'm guessing the pictures are from an '07. Calling DynoJet I guess.

the pictures are from the 06 heritage, the 07 fatboy is not the same as the pictures. There was a thread that had great pictures and how to on this forum about 5 months ago

Default PC III on 2008

I installed one on my 2007, I don't believe there's any difference since they do use the same one and both have the 200mm tire. I tucked it all underneath the seat. It was a tight fit but I did get in there. Hope this helps

Just did the install on my 07 fatboy. It is tight. I ran the pcIII module behind the mud flap. all the connectors are stuffed neatly under the seat. It almost seems impossible but I got stuff to fit neatly and then zip tied everything in place.

Just did this on my 08 Heritage.

I DID remove the relay bracket from the relays, etc. That was a bitch as there is a small tang on underside of relays and fuse block. I removed battery to get at everything.

I then ran plugs up through opening under cross bar. I had to thread the gray plug first through the hole/slot.

Re-installed the ecm, re-installed the battery, re-used the relay-fuse COVER to hold everything in place.

I had siliconced the USB cord onto the USB111. I also used dielectric grease on USB cord, and all plugs. I put all this in a ziplock bag and wire tied to inner fender.

Really sucked, but it is in!

And I can readily lift seat and plug into laptop!

For the USB up top... I cut the head off of a usb extension cord and plugged it onto the USB111's USB cord, then taped **** out of it.

My concern, and I WILL find out... I really DO ride in monsoons, etc.

We shall see how it all holds up.

FYI to everybody else. an 08 Softail has one piece mud guard, no more left and right. The fuses, etc are WAY different than an 07 or maybe 06 backwards.
