Default Brake whine

I'm not exactly scared of working on my bike and doing some simpler stuff, but when it comes to brakes I take no chances, so here's my question.

When cruising along I can hear a slight whine coming from my front brake, but if I even slightly depress the brake the whine goes away completely. Of course I can only hear it when I'm going very slow, considering at faster speeds all quiet sounds are drowned out. The brakes don't feel at all different (the front's a little soft, but nothing uncommon).
I noticed when adjusting my handlebars that the brake line is a little tight. Could this be the issue?

I'll also add that after examining the pads, there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks in advance for any assistance/advice.

Since the brakes are hydraulic, a tight brake line should not be a problem. When was the last time you changed the pads.

The pads appear to be fine. It almost sounds like a buzzy whine, not so much a friction sound.

Actually, brakes are the simpler stuff. Try cleaning your rotors. Remove the 2 10MM, 12 point bolts and the caliper slips right off.

That's normal brake noise. Your pads are just barely touching the rotor and that's what you are hearing.

I know, brakes aren't exactly complicated, but ever since I worked on my Mustang as a teenager I've been overly cautious. Thanks for alleviating my worries.
