Default 1998 fatboy rims

Ok, the question is..........

I have a 1998 Fatboy, lots of pitting and peeling on the rims.

I have a chance to buy rims (front and rear with pully and sprokets) for $150 (for both). They are off a 2002.

Would 2002 Fatboy rims fit on a 1998 Fatboy?

Thanx for any help.

Iirc, the hub needs to be notched for the speedo, the axle is 3/4" and there may be a spacing issue but maybe not.

Yeah, you may need to change the wheel bearings if there's a different sized axle, then you may need some new spacers..shouldn't be too much more than that though..

Default Thanx

Talked to a mechanic also. He said I should just have to change bearings and check spacing. If they cant go on my bike he said he would buy them. Win win.

Thanx again.

You will have to change bearings for sure. I think it is 2000+ models have the different bearing...I ran into this when I purchased a Fatboy rear rim off ebay and put on my old Evo. They will more than likely have to cut spacers. They should be able to make them work.

2000 and up have sealed bearings, 1999 and down have timkin bearings. Change the bearings or change the spacers should do it for you. Both axles are 3/4" just different bearings.

Thanx again.
If you don't mind, please post your fitment results. That could be helpful information for others in the future.

Thanks.
